And the wine gave them the pride and courage they needed to face an uncertain destiny. In the previous nights, far from their family, and supported by the drunkenness produced by the wines, some carved wooden figures, being the chess horse one of their favorites for representing the beginning of the pace in that game, the beginning of the battle. Others evoked the image of unique and powerful creatures to attract good luck, hence the tail of the seahorse on the label, associated in many cultures with values such as patience, protection, perspective, persistence … values to have in order to produce these wines year by year, battles from the vineyard to the bottle…

In the Middle Ages, monasteries were the places where art and culture, literature, painting, music… were safeguarded. They were a place of knowledge, but in addition to these arts, the culture of wine was also cultivated and developed. The Priests provided great advances to western viticulture, the link between wine and Christianity is so close that worship is used; “Blood of Christ which will be shed for you and for all men for the forgiveness of sins”. Wine has its deepest roots in Europe. “God through wine, music through God”, hence the flute on the label rooted to the earth and offering a red Monastrell to the Sun, which when drunk will display notes of music on its rays.

And that’s why when his time had come, the people proudly sculpted in stone his figure along with his horse’s, leaving it in his deathbed, and all the villagers celebrated the Wine party paying tribute to the great horse rider to bid him farewell honorably. It is appreciated in the label of this powerful wine, the joy by the honored due to this great celebration. That took place back IV century B.C. when the Iberian people reigned Almansa lands. For such a singular legend is not possible other wine but an intense garnacha tintorera, energic and well structured, pampering each harvested grape, kept as gold in oak barrels and in bottle, waiting for celebration…

It is known that the lands in which these vineyards are cultivated are of volcanic lands and with springs of water, that give minerals and the excellent sustenance for the breeding of this fruit. The area had long been conceived for its abundance of rabbits, which built their burrows near the vineyards to feed on their sweet juices, as can be seen on the label, represented by an animal of fantastic origin with the head of a rabbit, body and legs of a bird coming out of a volcano. Legend has it that the rabbits implored the God of the volcano to give them four legs instead of the bird’s, so that they could run and jump in search of food. Nature, always wise, allows us to cultivate in it that typical tempranillo machego and a white blend that leaves no one indifferent…Volcanic Wines

The legend of the monkey that did not want to become a man and decided to fly, represents the love for freedom, the flight from destiny; rebellion. This is the spirit of a great wine. The witch of the West in Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz uses winged monkeys as evil servants, but we know that their bad reputation is totally undeserved. “People don’t like to have their own faith,” wrote our great Quevedo. Our “Eternal Legend” in turn represents the various generations of families who have passed on knowledge for wine making, the eternal vineyards that never tire of giving away their fruit… and how we would like the moment of enjoyment to last by taking this coupage of three varieties in good company, ETERNAL…
